I would like to start off saying that I honestly am one of those persons who would not promote something that I truly didn’t believe in.   But I would like to share with all my closest friends and family my experience with my present weight loss.

It all started when I was reading a magazine that I receive monthly in the mail.  Every month there is a new weight loss plan that always sounds great to me, however, usually there is something complicated about doing it.  Whether it’s buying special protein ingredients, tea, or something that I just can’t find at my local super market.  Believe me I have tried almost every diet out there.  Starting with Weight Watchers, eDiets, Atkins, South Beach, Sonoma, Green Tea, you name them.  None of them ever seemed to work for me.  So as I am reading the newly printed article on weight loss for baby boomers (people our age), I kept thinking I can do this.  The thing that caught my eye the most was this time, for the first time everything was making sense.  I am sure you heard it all before that you don’t have to give up your favorite foods, eat as much as you like, etc.  And always this is too good to be true.

Well, for me, not this time.  I read the article several times.  Then I decided to go check out the author’s web site.  I kept looking for something that would make me say “nope, just another silly diet”.  Finally I couldn’t find any reason why I couldn’t do this.  Well, what the heck I thought.  So I bought the book suggested in the magazine article.  "EAT, CHEAT & MELT the FAT AWAY" by Suzanne Somers.  Yes, Suzanne Somers.  I had heard she written several books on weight loss and that she sold jewelry on HSN. Back in the early 90’s I had even purchase a THIGHMASTER®.   And I am sure you have heard of the FACEMASTER®.  What I didn’t know is that she also sold food products, had a web site for support full of people just like me going through not only a weight problem, but a hormonal problems to boot.  Now I was really interested.  The more I researched on the site the more things sounded like me.  The next thing I knew I was buying another book and another book. 

But, getting back to the weight loss….  Suzanne explains in her books why we have failed at losing weight.  It was all becoming clear to me and making sense.  After reading CHEAT & MELT the FAT AWAY I was ready to start my new Way of Eating (WOE) and become a Somersizer.  Presently I have lost over 19 pounds with this WOE and my husband has lost over 30 pounds.  We eat normal foods that are good for you.  We are not hungry or craving sweets.  Now, I will be honest and say I did give up wine.  And anyone who knows me knows that me giving up wine is unheard of!!  I must be pretty serious about this to give up my wine!!  And I am!!  I don’t want to be miserable anymore about my weight, finding excuses as to why I am the size I was….  This WOE has shown me that I can enjoy what I eat, be full and lose weight.  And now I can have my wine again!!! J

Do I purchase any of the food Suzanne sells?  Yes I do.  WHY?  Because they are good!  Darn good!  I have a protein shake almost every day for lunch.  It taste great and I am full afterwards not even wanting to snack later in the day.  I now eat something for breakfast everyday too.  Our dinners are real dinners that I cook sometimes using a recipe from Suzanne’s cookbooks, or recipes shared by the girls in the forums on the web site.  One of my husband’s and my favorites are the cream cheese cupcakes I make.  Yes, cream cheese cupcakes!  Oh and brownies!!   On a diet, no..  This is not a diet, it’s a “way of eating” and for me, it’s for the rest of my life.  And I am not skipping meals, like I was in the past.  I honestly can say that I am and have been totally excited since I started this WOE!!

Now that I am on my way to a healthier life my next goal is to find out about to get my hormones back in whack.  Menopause was not my friend.  Menopause has taken a toll on my hormones and my life.  With the help of Suzanne’s book “THE SEXY YEARS” I have realized that life doesn’t have stop after menopause and shouldn’t have to stop.  Once I find a doctor in my area that practices BHRT (bioidentical hormone replacement therapy), which is real hormone replacement, not synthetic I will share my new experience with you.
